Coach Sark Brings Live Bengal Tiger To Practice
Washington Coach Steve Sarkisian brought a live Bengal Tiger to Husky football practice today. The Tiger is keeping watch on the dawgs as they practice and prepare for their trip down to Baton Rogue Lousiana to take on the LSU Tigers this Saturday:

HIGHLIGHTS: Washington Defeats SDSU 21-12
Hello Dawg Fans!
So it's the day after, and some serious questions need to be answered in the wake of the Huskies 21 to 12 win over the visiting San Diego Aztecs. The offense came out like gang busters in the first quarter, complete with a screen pass for a touchdown to Kasen Williams but failed to really do anything else the rest of the game. Coach Steve Sarkisian said the offense got into a funk, and blamed his own play calling. Quarterback Keith Price blamed himself, stating that this was his worst game played in a long time despite throwing for 222 yards, 1 TD, and connecting on 25 of 35 pass attempts.
Washington suffered a couple injuries of note: Running-back Jesse Callier tripped on the turf at CenturyLink and hurt his knee, which is why he sat out the rest of the game with a giant ice pack taped around his knee. Offensive tackle Ben Riva was also injured, breaking his forearm. He is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Jesse Callier is having an MRI to assess the damage and see how bad or not his knee is.
The new Justin Wilcox defense performed admirably at times, especially compared to last year. However, they still gave up 200 rushing yards to the Aztecs, which does not look good with the LSU Tigers looming large this weekend. JC transfer Tre Watson intercepted a Ryan Katz pass in the first quarter for a pick six. OLB Travis Feeney stripped the ball from the SDSU RB and unfortunately Bishop Sankey proceeded to fumble the ball on the Aztec's 8 yard line, or the dawgs could have gone up by an even bigger margin. This game also marked the Purple and Gold debut of star true freshmen Shaq Thompson, who had a few nice plays in the game.

It's HUSKY FOOTBALL GAMEDAY!!! WOOF!
GAMEDAY!
Hello Dawg Fans! Football is finally here and Husky Football gameday has arrived! Our dawgs take on the San Diego State Aztecs tonight at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on the PAC12 Networks. If you have Charter or Dish/Direct TV then you will not get the game, unless you are going to the game of course. There might be live streams of the game over the internet, but I'm not sure about that, that's something you might want to Google if you are going to be in the dark.
Or, head on over to your favorite sports bar or a friends watch party and enjoy the game!

Coach Sark Ready For Sand Diego State Aztecs
Coach Sarkisian and some of the players said they are ready for the visiting Aztecs this Saturday. Sark said he will be less conservative with the offense this year since he does not want to start slow like the Huskies did in last years opener against the Eastern Washington Eagles.
Keith Price is excited to be playing SDSU because their stud corner Leon McFadden is his best friend and former high school teammate at St. Johns Bosco High School in Compton, California. Price said both families are close and even attend each others games. McFadden was given a serious look at by Coach Sark but he ended up passing on the star corner (both Price and safety Will Shamburger were Bosco teammates of McFadden).
Defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox said both he and his players are excited for the season to start and can't wait for the Aztec game so they can see how far they've come with the new defense.

Huskies Practice, Stadium Update, SDSU Preview
Shaq Thompson (Number #7), photo by CoachSark.com |
Hello Dawg Fans!
The Huskies practiced last night at CenturyLink, home of the Seahawks obviously, and although the practice itself was closed to the public and media; Coach Sark uploaded some practice photos to his site which you can view here:
http://coachsark.com/blog/2012/08/photos-of-the-day-mock-game-edition/
Shaq Thompson has been getting a lot of reps with the linebackers unit and OLB Nate Fellner, who is out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot, said the other day that Shaq has been playing his position in practice this past week. As others have stated, this likely means Shaq will play a hybrid role as an OLB/Nickelback depending on which play DC Justin Wilcox has dialed up that day.
The Husky Stadium Renovation Project is ahead of schedule and coming in on-time and under budget. The main structures are already going up and a second crane was brought in and constructed this week. You read about the renovation at this link, which includes a panoramic photo by Dean Rutz of the SeattleTimes Newspaper:

A week from now the Dawgs will be taking the field at CenturyLink for the first game of the 2012 Football Season against the San Diego State Aztecs. The Aztecs have a couple weapons on offense, notably the TE Escobar and the WR Butler (USC transfer) and named Ryan Katz the starting QB this week (OSU transfer). Here is a detailed preview of the SDSU Aztecs football team:

And finally, Ted Miller of ESPN has gotten to Washington's turn on his best case/worst case scenario series on the PAC-12 Conference. After taking a look at the Huskies, I highly recommend viewing the Washington State Cougars best/worst case article, it's hilarious:

Dawgs Begin Game Week for San Diego State Aztecs
The Huskies have closed off practice as they start game week today, getting ready for the 2012 football season opener at CenturyLink stadium where they will host the visiting San Diego State Aztecs. The Aztecs have a new quarterback this year as Ryan Katz, who transferred from Oregon State, was named the new starter.
Very interestingly, this past week SDSU head football coach Rocky Long talked to the media and said they have absolutely no idea what Justin Wilcox and his new Husky defense will throw at them. The first game should be a fun one as the dawgs explosive offense and re-vamped defense take on the Aztecs.
I personally can not wait to see stud true freshmen Shaquille "Shaq" Thompson take the field on defense. He wears jersey number 7 and will be playing a sort of hybrid defensive back / linebacker role (Nickleback). His closing speed and physicality make him a sure fire star in the making.
And before I end this post I want to share with you all a fan made hype video for the 2012 season:

Josh Perkins and Willis Wilson Are Dawgs Once Again!
Coach Sarkisian announced that Joshua Perkins and Willis Wilson have been reinstated to the Washington Husky football team and will be punished in-house rather than being kicked off the team completely. What lead to this change of direction? Apparently some of the players came forward with more information on the incident that happened and after talking with team captains, Coach Sark decided his original punishment was too severe and that both players are now happy and thankful to have a second chance.
Here is Coach Sark's statement on Perkins and Willis:
Here is Coach Sark's statement on Perkins and Willis:
"We gathered some more information on the situation and it felt like the right thing to do,'' Sarkisian said. "We met with some of the leaders on the team, felt like the right thing to do. Their punishment will be handled in-house and I think that they are thankful for the opportunity to get back and I think that their teammates happy to have them back.''

Josh Perkins and Willis Wilson Kicked Off Husky Football Team
Hello Dawg Fans!
Disappointing news to report today as Coach Sarkisian and the Udub released a statement earlier today breaking the news that H-Back/tight end/wide receiver Joshua Perkins and reserve walk-on running back Willis Wilson have been dismissed from the Washington Husky Football Team. Here is a statement that was put out earlier:
The loss of Wilson hurts the depth at RB a little bit, but he was not considered to be a contender for very much playing time this year. On the other hand, losing Josh Perkins does hurt the depth chart as he was expected to work his way onto the field at a variety of positions including HB/TE/WR.
Sad day for Dawg Nation, hopefully these young men can use this experience as a wake up call and turn things around and redeem themselves somewhere else.

WOOF! The Dawg is Back in SeaTown!!!
Wow, completely forgot about this blog I started years ago! Hahaha. Oh well, never too late to start again right? Turner and Ty Losingham are long gone and we have since also gotten rid of Holt and his atrocious defense. Coach Sark has done an average job of rebuilding the program, so there is still hope remaining that he can take the Washington Huskies football team to the next level.
Will Sark be the next Don James? WAY too early to tell, clearly. But with a loaded offense led by Keith "Teeth" Price and a new defensive staff headed by BSU wunderbar Justin Wilcox, things could take off in theory. Nabbing Tosh Lupoi from the Cal Bears was a stroke of genius. It not only nut their nads off, but it exposed the Cal Bear fans for what they are: bitter, jilted, vindictive little girls!
